-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT-

The Holy Spirit – The power in our abiding

In John 14:23, Judas (not Iscariot) asks Jesus – Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world? And Jesus answered – If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, dwelling) with him. Jesus continues – Whoever does not love Me, does not keep My words, and the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

The evidence of belonging to the Father through Jesus Christ is obedience. We read this in James – be doers of the word and not hearers only… 1 John speaks to this truth over and over. Yet, many professing Christians often ask – How can I love God and keep His word? How can I abide in Christ? How can His word abide in me? How can I abide in His love? How can I keep His commandments?

We will find in the Word of God that the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) dwelling in the people of God, empower us to walk in faith and obedience to the Son of God, and this is all for the glory of God.

The following passages will be helpful in preparation for this Sunday:

John 14 & 15 Ezekiel 36:16-17:28
