Weekly Scripture Reading: John 14:1-11
Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' - John 14:6
-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT-
Good morning, River family!
I hope this finds you safe and sound. As we move forward in our 2021 mission, I am excited to announce that we will, Lord willing, journey together in the coming weeks through the 7 letters to the 7 churches. In doing so, each week we will ask 7 simple questions:
In this letter, what do we learn regarding the Character of Christ?
What is the Context of this passage?
How is this church Commended by Christ?
How is this church Corrected by Christ?
How is this church Called by Christ?
What are the Consequences should this church obey or disobey the Words of Christ?
How does this passage Correlate to today?
For many in the church today, the book of Revelation is often the most neglected letter in the New Testament and I have no doubt that this neglect has negatively impacted our view of Christ and what it means to “abide”. As we journey together through the 7 letters, may the Lord grant to us further understanding of, and obedience in, what it means to abide in Christ, His Word, His Church, and His mission. Lord willing, this Sunday we will focus our attention on Christ's letter to the church of Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7). In preparation for Sunday, spend some time reading Revelation chapter 1 and Paul’s letter to the Ephesians for context, and apply our 7 questions to Revelation 2:1-7.
I look forward to growing with you! In Grace, -Jp
