A letter to the church of Pergamum 3/7/21

Weekly Scripture Reading: John 17. John 17:3: "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."

As you go through these weekly readings, we will find them to serve us well in our preparations and approach to Resurrection Sunday (April 4th).

-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT-

Hey River family! Lord willing, we will plan to focus our attention this Sunday on Christ’s letter to the church in Pergamum. As you read and meditate on Revelation 2:12-17, spend some time applying our 7 central questions to the passage for further study. Q: In this letter, what do we learn regarding the Character of Christ? Q: What is the Context of this passage? Q: How is this church Commended by Christ? Q: How is this church Corrected by Christ? Q: How is this church Called by Christ? Q: What are the Consequences should this church obey or disobey the Words of Christ? Q: How does this passage Correlate to today? As we focus our attention each week on one of the seven letters, let’s try to keep track of any comparisons and contrasts that we find. Also, anytime there is an Old Testament reference (such as in our passage this Sunday), it will be to our benefit to spend some time familiarizing ourselves with that particular Old Testament illustration or story. If it’s important enough for Jesus to say and for an apostle to record, its important enough for us to observe and heed!

I look forward to growing with you this week.

In Grace, -Jp
