ABIDE – 2021
In the weeks prior to the elders retreat, we spent time seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. And I want to thank those of you who prayed for us throughout this time. As the Lord placed specific Scripture before each of us, we shared those passages with one another and continued reading and praying. When we gathered for the elders retreat, the Lord’s instruction for us was very clear.
The Lord has called us to “ABIDE”.
ABIDE (meno) meaning to continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry
It can mean:
To physically stay where you are. To continue to live and not die. To keep on keeping on. To not change. To stay strong in one’s resolve. To remain in common purpose with others. To stay present physically, mentally, spiritually. To survive unchanged.
In a world that is changing so fast, and much of it seems to be heading in the wrong direction, as Christians, we are called to abide in Christ. The Lord has called us to abide – remain, endure, continue in Christ. As we abide in Christ – 1.we abide in His Word and prayer
In preparation for this Sunday, the following passages will be helpful:
John 15:1-17 1 Peter 1:22-25 1 John 5:1-5 Hebrews 10:19-25 John 17
