Scripture Reading: 2 Thessalonians 1:5-12.
"To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by His power..." - 2 Thessalonians 1:11
-THIS SUNDAY'S SERMON-
Abiding - Listening to the Lord
This Sunday, we will look at a very familiar passage in 1 Samuel, the calling of Samuel. Read 1 Samuel 3
Verse 7 is worthy of us taking note - "Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him." If you remember, Eli's sons were worthless men for they did not know the Lord.
?What will be the difference between Samuel and Eli's sons?
Eli's instruction to Samuel was to:
Go, lie down (Be still) If He calls you (Wait, Listen for the Lord) Say, Speak, for your servant hears. (Respond to the Lord)
So what did Samuel do? Verse 9 says, "So Samuel went and lay down in his place."
?How are you at being still and listening to the Lord? ?How eager are you to hear from the Lord?
Ask the Lord to give you a heart for His Word.
