Evidences of Disciples - Contending for one another's Faith

For what thanksgiving can we return to God for you, for all the joy we feel for your sake before our God, as we pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith. - 1 Thess. 3:9-10

Strengthen your Faith

If you remember our time in the book of Jude, the short letter begins, Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith…

We are arriving in 1 Thessalonians to a chapter in which Paul expresses much the same concern for the church of Thessalonica. Five times in chapter 3, Paul mentions the faith of the Thessalonians.

In 1 Thessalonians 3:1-13

Identify the times “FAITH” is mentioned (5 times)

What does Paul have to say about “FAITH” each time it is mentioned?

Why was Paul so concerned about the faith of the Thessalonians?

What was Paul’s desire for the church at Thessalonica regarding their faith?

Verses to ponder regarding faith: Hebrews 11:6 Romans 1:16-17 Romans 4:1-5:11

-CONSIDER & MEDITATE-

Understanding what God’s Word has to say about faith, are you as concerned about others’ faith in the way Paul was concerned about the faith of the Thessalonians?

Out of a genuine love for the Lord and for others, what are you doing to “supply what is lacking” in others’ faith?

-PRAYER & THANKSGIVING- Let 1 Thessalonians 3:11-13 be your hope and prayer for The River Family.

Ask the Lord to direct your way to someone in The River Family who needs to be encourage and strengthened in the faith.

Pray that your love for them would abound.

Pray that God would establish this person’s heart blameless in holiness before our God and Father.
