Have you ever said a word over and over again to the point where the word loses all sense of its meaning? In the Christian life, we can do the same thing with certain teachings or truths. We can become so familiar with a biblical truth that we forget its true meaning, purpose, and beauty. Faith, love, and hope are so prevalent in our world as believers. We read about them, hear them in sermons, and talk about them in our small groups. Sometimes in the midst of the familiarity, we can become complacent with these three beautiful truths of scripture. This Sunday, we will be looking at faith in hopes to encourage our hearts in the true meaning, purpose, and beauty of biblical faith. Leading up to Sunday I encourage you to do the following:
Read and meditate through Hebrews 11:1 over and over again Here the author of Hebrews defines faith. Pray that the Lord may give you wisdom and understanding.
Read Romans 3:21-28 Remind yourself of the glorious gospel you have received by faith. Keep this truth on the front of your mind this week.
3 Consider all the life applications that we walk in by faith Here is a list of them: Live by Faith - Galatians 2:20 Walk in Faith - Romans 4:12 Stand in Faith - Romans 11:20 Overcome the World - 1 John 5:4-5 Christ dwelling in You - Ephesians 3:17 Bringing patience - James 1:3 Have access to God - Ephesians 3:12 Further Reading: Romans 4-5:5, Galatians 2, Hebrews 11 Pray for one another this week! As we go throughout this week preparing to meet together, let us pray for one another, that we "may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of our Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." Colossians 1:9-10
