Go...Make Disciples...Baptizing Them...

He has now reconciled in His body of flesh by His death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before Him. - Colossians 1:22

-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT- Go…Make Disciples…Baptizing Them

Read Matthew 28:16-20. These two verses have been termed The Great Commission. The structure of The Great Commission is as follows:

  1. The Authority of Jesus Christ
  2. The Command of Jesus Christ
  3. The Details of the Command a. Baptize b. Teach
  4. The Promise of Jesus Christ to always be present

This Sunday we will be looking into the first detail of Jesus’ command to make disciples. Jesus says Go…make disciples…baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

So, if we are saved through faith in Jesus Christ, why do we baptize? If faith in Jesus Christ saves, what is the purpose or function of baptism?

-CONSIDER & MEDITATE- The Bible is very clear that we are saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Read and meditate on Romans 3:21-26, Romans 5:1-11, and Ephesians 2:8-10.

-PRAYER & THANKSGIVING- Thank the Lord for providing our youth and adults a wonderful trip to Camp Living Stones. We truly experienced God's faithfulness throughout the week and we give God praise for His wonderful work.

Pray for River's Edge - the youth at The River. Pray that they will be diligent in contending for their faith and the faith of their brothers and sisters in Christ.

Continue to pray for wisdom regarding a future Youth Minister for River's Edge.
