Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... - Matthew 28:19a
-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT- Go make disciples
This past Sunday, we gave our attention to what is called “The Great Commission” found in Matthew 28:18-20. It reads,
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Sunday we looked at the perfect authority of Jesus and our call to obey Him. The evidence of Jesus being our Savior is that He is our Lord. And Jesus, our Lord and Savior, has commanded (not suggested, not highly recommended) us to go make disciples. This is a call to discipleship.
Discipleship – Knowing and following Christ, and helping others do the same, for the glory of God.
In the last 15 years there has been an ongoing debate as to what “Go” means. We will look at this this Sunday. In preparation for this Sunday, I will encourage you to read the following passages:
Luke 24:45-47 Acts 1 Matthew 24:14
It would also be helpful to read Acts 13-16 (chapters)
This Sunday will be an exciting day as we will conclude our service with a baptism.
-CONSIDER & MEDITATE-
One simple question today - Is my life spent making disciples of Jesus Christ?
-PRAYER & THANKSGIVING- Pray for the Lord to search you and know your heart. Ask the Lord to fix your heart and mind on Christ. Give thanks to the Lord that our troubles and trials and difficulties are temporary. Give thanks to the Lord that we can call on Him and trust Him in all that we face. Give thanks to the Lord for sending His Son Jesus and that in Jesu, we belong to Him.
