Weekly Memory Verse: "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him. " - Hebrews 11:6
Sermon Scripture Reading: Psalm 103:1-12
-THIS SUNDAY'S SERMON-
Good afternoon, River family! I hope this email finds you well. Lord willing, this Sunday we will take into consideration Matthew 9:1-8 (Jesus' healing of the paralytic). As you prayerfully read this passage, consider the following questions:
Q: When the paralytic is placed before Christ, what does Jesus initially take note of?
Q: What are Jesus' first words to this man? How does this initial interaction provide clarity regarding the type of faith held by the paralytic?
Q: Upon hearing these initial words from Jesus, do you think the paralytic was relieved; or, disappointed?
Q: How do we witness the Deity (Divine nature) of Christ in this passage?
Q: How do the religious leaders feel about this moment, and why?
Q: How does Jesus prove His authority to forgive sins?
Q: River family, do we, as Christians, live, speak, and pray as those who are fully convinced that our Savior has the power and authority to heal infirmity and the ability to forgive sin? How/where might we need to repent of our unbelief and walk in faith?
I look forward to growing with you!
In Grace, -Jp
