(exhort one another to not settle for anything less)
Read Hebrews 3
In verse 1 what do we learn about “brothers and sisters”?
In verses 1, the charge is for believers to consider Christ. Now this seems to be a strange thing, but is it truly strange. How prone are we to wander, harden our hearts, shrink back?
Now read verses 2-6 and list all these verses reveal about Jesus. Take time and list the comparisons of Moses and Jesus.
What does verse 6 say about our identity? Notice the clause. Read 1 John 2:19 and Luke 8:9-15
Verses 12-14 speaks to us as a community of believers. What responsibility do we have for one another? We are commanded to do something in one another’s lives. What is it? Why?
Do you have brothers and sisters in your life who know you? They know your struggles with sin; they know your weaknesses? Have you invited brothers and sisters close to you to exhort you and care for your heart and mind?
Brothers and sisters who will keep you in prayer before the Lord. Brothers and sisters who will keep the Word of the Lord in front of your heart and mind. Brothers and sisters who will relentlessly fight to keep you from being deceived by sin, developing a hardened heart, an evil, unbelieving heart. Will you invite brothers and sisters in close to love you this way?
Will you let others in close for the sake of your heart?
God uses His people to love us this way. God commands us to love one another this way.
