Prelude to The Joy of Worship

"I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name "The LORD". - Exodus 33:19

-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT- A prelude to the joy of worshiping God

A.W. Towzer once said, what comes to mind when we think about God, is the most important thing about us.

Do you think about God? What do you think about God? What guides your thoughts about God? Does your understanding agree with or differ from what God has said about God (in the Bible)?

People have various thoughts about God, but what guides their thoughts? The Bible tells us that God has always been and will always be. God was not created; He is the Creator. God has revealed Himself through His Word – the Bible. So, when the Bible instructs/guides our thoughts about God, God is instructing/guiding our thoughts about God.

In preparation for this Sunday, carefully read Exodus 31-34. Our focus this Sunday will be on Exodus 33:12 - Exodus 34:9. Take note on who God says He is in Exodus 34:5-7.

Notice Moses’ response to God in Exodus 34:9.

The people of Israel · told Aaron to “make us gods who shall go before us.” · Claimed that the golden calf brought them out of Egypt. · Called the calf “the LORD” · Made offerings and worshipped what was created.

Moses · Waited on the LORD · Pleaded to the LORD on behalf of the people · Said to the LORD – “please show me now your ways, that I may know you… · Asked of the LORD – “Please, show me your glory.” · Waited on the LORD. · Worshipped the LORD.

-CONSIDER & MEDITATE-

Who do we worship? Do we create and call it “the LORD”? Do we wait on the LORD and worship Him?
