Read Matthew 5:13-16

As you read this passage, consider the following:

Who is Jesus directly speaking to in this passage? What declaration does He make to His disciples? What does it mean to be "the salt of the earth"? What purposes(s) does salt have? What does it mean to be "the light of the world"? What purposes(s) does light have? In light of verse 16, what should be the driving motivation of our obedience to Christ?
