-THIS SUNDAY'S SERMON- Saved & Transformed to Worship

River Family,

Thank you for your prayers and encouragement over the past week and a half. Being confined to the bedroom and backyard has not been much fun. So Jordan's sermon on rejoicing in the Lord was very timely for me. I was thankful to watch the service online and celebrate baptism and new members. Praise the Lord!!!

Lord willing, this Sunday we will look at worshipping the Lord in spirit and in truth. It seems that man has always struggled with being more impressed with ourselves than with God. We tend to be so impressed with our worship, that we may at times worship our worship more than we worship God. We do not gather the praise ourselves and make much of ourselves. We gather together around God's Word (the truth) and ask His Spirit to guide us. The results should be praise and glory and worship of God because of who He is and what He has done. Read Psalm 43:3-4. May the truth of God and the Spirit of God stir our hearts up to worship the one true God.

Read Romans 11-12. In chapter 11, Paul explains salvation, salvation of the Gentiles and salvation of Israel. Salvation changes everything. Our sight (understanding), Our minds (thinking), Our heart (desires/purpose). Genuine worship works its way out of the hearts of those who have: New life in Christ Adoption by the Heavenly Father Been filled with the Holy Spirit

Take note of 11:32 ("all" meaning both Jews and Gentiles). In the beginning of chapter 12, Paul writes - "I appeal to you THEREFORE, brothers,BY THE MERCIES OF GOD..." to do something.

Because you have been saved through Christ Jesus - what does Paul appeal to them to do? Read the whole chapter!
