He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like a chaff that the wind drives away. - Psalm 1:3-4
-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT-
In preparation for this Sunday, read 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12. This Sunday, we will focus our minds and hearts on verses 4-12. This passage exposes the judgment of God. Just reading the passage has led me to settle down and think deeply on God, His character, His work. Notice in verse 5 what is said about the judgment of God. It says, “…the righteous judgment of God…” This passage speaks of many difficult actions of God, and we must read them with an understanding of God. His acts are right and just, and he does not change.
As you read this passage, identify two different groups of people. What are they doing? What do they believe? What is their outcome? When is this outcome revealed?
-CONSIDER & MEDITATE-
Read verse 5, then read verses 11-12. Focus on the word “worthy”. What does “worthy” mean? Who makes us “worthy” of what?
Other helpful passages: John 3:16-21 Romans 9:15-18 Matthew 5:10-12 Matthew 5:43-48 Isaiah 53
