Weekly Memory Verse: "The kingdom of heaven is like a great treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." - Matthew 13:44
Sermon Scripture Reading: Psalm 118:19-29
-THIS SUNDAY'S SERMON-
River Family,
As we have been walking through Matthew, we have seen Jesus put much emphasis on the kingdom of heaven. Jesus' message has been first to (predominately) the Jews. He has even sent his messengers in that direction - first. Matthew 10:5-7 - These 12 Jesus sent out, instructing them, "Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." We are seeing many Jews reject Jesus and His message. He was even rejected in his home town of Nazareth. Read Matthew 13:44-58. Focus on verses 44-46, 51-58.
What is the kingdom of heaven like? In verse 52, what is new and what is old? Take note of the crowd in verses 53-57 and what did Jesus do (not do)?
Looking forward to worshipping with you Sunday.
Grace and Peace, Eric
Until He comes, having the mind of Christ, walk together in grace and truth.
