The Righteousness of God

He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:21

-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT-

Lord willing, this Sunday we will look into James and Romans in regard to the righteousness of God. Over the past three weeks, we have focused on James 1:19. We have been instructed (regarding the Word of God) to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

As we look at these instructions, are they the main point or do they direct us to a greater goal?

It seems that this instruction guides us to a greater goal, which is found in the next verse. In verse 19 we find these words - "the righteousness of God". "The righteousness of God" is the goal here.

How do we obtain the righteousness of God? Read 1 Corinthians 1:30 & 2 Corinthians 5:21

It is only through the righteousness of Christ Jesus that we are made acceptable to God. God is only satisfied with those who are in the righteousness of Christ. And, those who hunger and thirst for the righteousness of Christ Jesus will be satisfied. If you are familiar with the Beatitudes, you will remember Matthew 5:6 - Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

In preparation for this Sunday's message, Read Romans 5:20-6:23 Pay close attention to "obedience", "righteousness", "sanctification", & "eternal life".

-PRAYER & THANKSGIVING-
