Wait on the Lord! For He is Risen!

The Lord is at hand. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by pray and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. - Philippians 4:5b-6

-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT- Here lately, because of our current circumstances, the question “what should we do”, has come up more often than ever before. Because of the realities of COVID – 19, we are having to make many decisions, decisions that we never dreamed of having to make.

When and how is the best way to get groceries right now? Is it safe to go see family and friends? How can we all do life – school and work from home without offending one another?

Some decisions have been eliminated for us at this time.

Where do we want to go eat this evening? Who do we want to have over for dinner this week? Do we want to go see a movie this weekend? How are we going to divide up this week to get the kids to their practices and games?

One truth I am reminded of is – The most wonderful, beautiful provisions and lessons of life come through life’s most difficult circumstances.

In one of my most difficult seasons of life, Psalm 27:14 guided my heart and mind. I pray that it will guide your hearts today. It reads – Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.

God’s definite plan involves difficult situations. Consider Jesus’ journey on earth for our salvation and God’s eternal praise.

Within 2 years of Jesus’ humble birth, crazy King Herod sought to kill Him. The gospel of John tells us that Jesus came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. For a long time, even His brothers did not believe Him. He was tempted by the devil in the wilderness. Jesus was hated by the religious. He was betrayed by one of His own. He was abandoned by His closest followers, mocked, beaten, spit upon, and finally crucified by lawless men. And while on the cross, Jesus would cry out – “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” All of this difficulty came upon Jesus – One who never sinned. But God’s plan did not end with the death of His Son.

Read Matthew 27 & 28 Read 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 Read Acts 2:23-33

-CONSIDER & MEDITATE-

There is evidence of the resurrection of Christ found in the lives of the people of the church of Thessalonica – Read 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10

Is the evidence of the resurrection of Jesus Christ apparent in your life? Ø Have you turned to God? Ø Have you turned from idols? Ø Have you turned to serve the living, true God? Ø Have you turned to wait for the Son of God from heaven to return?

Jesus is the Christ. He has conquered death. He delivers His followers from the wrath to come.

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait on the Lord. For Christ is risen!!!

-PRAYER & THANKSGIVING- Give thanks to the Lord for His love endures forever!

Give thanks to the Lord for His salvation endures forever!

Give thanks to the Lord for sending His Son - Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord!

Pray for those who do not know Christ. Ask God to open their hearts to the truth of Christ. Ask God to turn their hearts to the Lord.
